Children

Putting children first.

When parents separate, one of the most important and often most difficult questions is how to make arrangements that truly support their children.

Child Arrangements

When parents separate, one of the most important and often most difficult questions is how to make arrangements that truly support their children. Family mediation provides a safe, structured, and child-focused environment where separating parents can work through disagreements about living arrangements, contact schedules, holidays, schooling, and communication. With the guidance of our experienced, impartial mediators, parents are supported to have constructive conversations and make practical decisions together. Rather than escalating disputes through court proceedings, mediation helps reduce conflict so that parents can find flexible, tailored solutions that prioritise children’s wellbeing. This will lay the foundation for a more cooperative co-parenting relationship moving forward.

Child arrangements can be written up in a Statement of Child Arrangements, this costs £50 per person.

Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM)

Hearing children’s voices, safely.

Child Inclusive Mediation is a specialist process designed to ensure that children’s voices are heard, safely and appropriately, when parents are making decisions about arrangements after separation. With both parents’ agreement, our specially trained mediator meets with the child or young person to understand their feelings, experiences, and any worries they would like shared. The mediator does not ask children to choose between parents or make decisions; instead, they provide thoughtful feedback to parents to help them better understand their child’s perspective. This process helps parents refocus on their child’s needs, reduce conflict, and make informed, child-centred decisions about future arrangements.

A Child Consultation led by our experienced CIM specialist along with the feedback session costs £60 per person.

Child Maintenance

Child maintenance is the financial support that is paid by the parent who does not live with them most of the time, helping to cover everyday living costs such as food, clothing, housing, and school expenses. When parents separate, discussing child maintenance can feel sensitive, but reaching a clear and fair agreement is an important part of providing stability for children. In mediation, we offer a neutral and supportive space to explore how maintenance can be calculated, whether using the Child Maintenance Service guidelines or through a family-based arrangement that suits particular circumstances. Our focus is on helping parents have open, constructive conversations so that financial arrangements are transparent, realistic, and centred on the wellbeing of their children.
